Lately, harmony has been on my mind as life has thrown me several curveballs. I recently lost my dog of twelve years, which shattered my heart. At the same time, I am in the middle of selling my home and buying a new one (located 8 hours away). My brain and being started to feel immensely overwhelmed.
Fortunately, I could go out to my horses. Spending time with my horses helps me shift from stress into a natural state of being and regain powerful coherence, flow, and profound peace.
The stresses and pressures that sometimes arise in life can be overwhelming, which is one of many reasons I am deeply passionate about the power of living the harmonious way of the Horse and guiding others along this rewarding path.
I wondered how we could bring more harmony into our busy and sometimes chaotic lives; I remembered an excerpt from my book, Horse Spirits Speak: On Love, Presence, and Harmony in a Chaotic World. I invite you to read on to gain guidance, directly from the spirit of Horse, on how to bring harmony into our state of being with ourselves and with others, and collectively. As you read this, allow your body and being to receive loving support from the greater horse collective.
……..
What can the Horse Spirits teach us about acceptance of
oneself and others in order to live in harmony?
We very much would like to guide you on this journey. We find the concept of harmony to be quite readily accessible and quite common in our herds, as a natural way of being. Individuals within the herd, for the most part, are naturally non-resistant to others, being able to flow with what is present within the collective herd. When disharmony arises, members of the herd will clearly communicate the needs and limits for the collective to maintain health and well-being. Those who cannot find this harmony will naturally
move away and find other collectives with which to bond. As a herd, we strive for harmony because to achieve it requires the least amount of energy, and the by-product of harmony is conservation of energy, cohesion, and safety. We understand that cohesive energy brings us wellness, so we strive to create this harmony.
We are a bit befuddled by human beings because they seem quite the opposite of us in this area. Instead of seeking harmony, they often seek conflict because they want to create friction; they want to create this energy that we find quite distasteful and deadening to our spirits. But these human beings are fed on conflict and drama. They receive a surge of energy through the body, and the unconscious becomes addicted to the rush of that energy as it is expressed. Then they seek more conflict or drama to feed the body more of that particular type of energy, rather than expressing the healthy and pure life force energy from the earth, source, or the divine. We find this rather peculiar. These things that float through the consciousness of human beings we find rather complex and wasteful to the spirit, and unsustainable long term.
We understand that as a herd, harmony is what can uplift us, and it does feed us on an energetic level. It keeps us sound and in good health; it keeps us physically strong to know that there is no resistance among us. Sometimes, of course, there is, and the herd needs to re-sort itself so that it can go back to harmony. But harmony is more our way of being; it is more our nature. It is what we strive for whenever we can. We conserve energy and keep ourselves in the utmost healthy place.
We wish we could put you humans into our herd and have you live with us. If you spent a week with us roaming and grazing on the land, warming in the sunlight, adjusting your internal being to handle the cooling temperatures at night, and sensing and feeling those around you in the herd, you would achieve a sense of oneness with the herd and experience profound harmony in your heart and spirit. If you were all to do what we do, we feel that you would be able to rise to other levels of consciousness and understanding of your self and your relationships, and how the universe and life operates. We feel if you could come with us and be in our herd and breathe in the way that we breathe and sense in the way that we sense and become one with us in the way that we become with others, then this experience would forever change you, and you would never feel divided again. And once you did find yourself divided again, you would come back to the herd and this place of harmony to rejuvenate your understanding and integration of this concept and way of being.
Many of you can’t understand when you are not in harmony because you spend so much time in disharmony or discord. Discordant energy is sticky; a vibration that is non-productive and not very healthy. Discordant energy, like any energy or emotion, including harmony, feeds upon itself, so that which we invite, we invite more of, and then it becomes a circle. We the Horse Spirits are pure light beings, and now we know only harmony. However, the horses on the physical plane seek it, as they know the benefits of it. Horses invite harmony because they want more harmony. We like the feeling of harmony. Who wouldn’t? Again, we are bewildered that humans do not seek this out more readily.
We have much more to offer you on this. We are here as a pure example of this energy that brings oneness, that brings one beyond the physical structure or three-dimensional way of living in a collective consciousness. Seeking to generate and create harmony brings you into a place of understanding the interconnectedness of everything and everyone. We cannot change what you choose to think. We cannot change what you choose to feel and where you choose to put your attention. We can only share our concepts and ideas.
We are not sure how to serve you if you are not willing to serve yourself. Serving yourself is where it must all begin, you see. Without the understanding of what true harmony feels like, many of you do not see the purpose in striving for it. Instead, you become unconscious and addicted to and overly focused on recreating the same strange feelings in your body because you know of no other reality. We don’t care for that. We achieve, or desire to achieve, this harmony.
We feel that if you would allow yourself, each day, even a moment of harmony, which comes from the self-acceptance you are asking us about, with or without us, and you increase this each day, you would get more resilient about making harmony a priority. You would soon find that harmony is the universal language for HORSE, just like you perceive love to be for humans. As you develop the ability to stay in this place of harmony, you will find that things do start to change in your outer world. You can practice this harmony with us – we are more than willing to help you with this, because, again, due to our circumstances, we do try to find this harmony to balance out all of this other human stuff that we sometimes have to endure.
Come to our herd at night, with a full moon, or below the stars, and breathe in this harmony with us. Find us on a sunny day and be next to us as we graze under the hot sun. Be there with us and listen to the birds, the rustling leaves, and the soft sound of the breeze stroking your face. Open up your sensory awareness as we do, and become one with the environment, disengaging the mind from the complexity of thought that is self-punishing or makes you feel “less than.” You will expand into the world and begin to feel less stress. You will understand what is most important to you. You will feel this difference within your being. But it must come from the inside of your being – you will not achieve it through your mind, especially a busy mind. Find this place inside of yourself. Breathe deeply with us, and we will teach you something more each time.
Harmony is the glue that keeps us together; it gives us strength within our community. We do not seek conflict. And when we have conflict, we resolve it quickly. We know at a higher intelligence that this is the way it is meant to be.
……..
I hope that this wisdom, shared by Horse, brought peace into at least one area of your life. I invite you to prioritize feeling and incorporate more moments of harmony each day.

Hi Kathy,
Thank you for sharing this beautiful excerpt from your book. It brings such wisdom and truly touched my heart. We have so very much to learn from Horse and Nature. Living in harmony truly is a gateway to freedom, greater health and flow.
I am deeply sorry for you in the loss of your beloved dog. I lost my two 15 year old Aussies last fall – litter mates. May your heart hold their love.
(I took one your courses virtually during the pandemic, and have great respect for you work.)
All the best,
Catherine Willows
Thank you so much for your kind comments. I too am sorry that your beloved dog crossed over. All the best to you. Kathy
