Sweet magical occurrences are happening here at my ranch. Each time they do, it confirms the rightness of my path and the support I feel from all of the creatures around me (such as this hummingbird below) and spirits beyond.
Like you, the last seven months have not been easy for me. It has been the opposite. I have worked harder than ever to figure out new ways to continue contributing to expanding human consciousness. It is my purpose to reconnect people to Mother Earth and her creatures, to raise social consciousness, and create more oneness in a chaotic world that is becoming divided and filled with unrest.
My horses, and especially Moon, have shown up with such clarity of their purpose during moments of filming and capturing key teaching moments for my new Online EFLC Level One Training. Their long stares into my soul express to me that they are here with me, to serve, and to be the support that is needed to reach people during this odd and often trying time.
For years, as I traveled through Europe and Australia to teach, I was asked to go online. I resisted this request. I claimed the process could not be successfully conducted through online methods. Additionally, I reasoned that filming would only be a distraction for the horses. I have been proven wrong, and I am humbled and happy that I have.
Have you been trusting the process of your life during this chaotic time?
I have practiced the grace of letting things be as they are and changing as they need to. People have left, new people have come in, and many relationships have deepened as my relationship bubble has become smaller.
Healing has happened here at the ranch as my herd and myself have had a tremendous amount of quiet time. The time has led to deep peace and vastness of space to reconnect to my deeper purpose in partnership with my herd. What has emerged is creating a teaching model that I am enormously proud of and feel it will be part of my legacy.
For over sixteen years, I have taught the EFLC Level One to thousands of people. It is profoundly transformational in nature and life-changing for many. The ripple effect as those who learn to facilitate these profound healing sessions between horses and humans can be seen as more and more people express the importance of emotional intelligence, energy attunement, and the spiritual connection between horses and humans, and all species.
What about the Hummingbird in this picture? Life presents me with little signs that, yes, the choices I am making are precisely where I need to be and what I need to be doing. In my book Hope from the Heart of Horses, I write about finding a black obsidian arrowhead during a time of contemplating to stay on the path with horses or take a corporate gig. I asked from a sign from spirit, looked to the ground, and found the arrowhead completely revealed in the sand. It was a decisive moment of real clarity that something beyond this realm has my back. Spirit was supporting me to take the path less traveled and certainly less predictable.
During the last seven months as Maddie Shirk, my ranch assistant, has been videoing segments for my new Online EFLC Level One. She as captured some exceptional shamanic moments. These moments remind me of the spiritual force behind me and within me and moves me forward to fulfill my life purpose. In this photo, you see me standing looking at Moon. A hummingbird flew into and out of the screen so quickly that neither Maddie nor I saw it. As she reviewed the footage in slow motion, she saw the Hummingbird and pulled out a still shot of the split-second in time that both of us missed. The Hummingbird was not cut and pasted into the photo. It was a split-second of time captured on film and missed by our human eyes. Later, I changed some of the colors and the background to enhance the Hummingbird’s ability to be seen.
The Hummingbird symbolizes many things on a spiritual level. The three that resonate so profoundly for me are:
- Hummingbirds represent the beauty and miracles of life. She tells me to move swiftly without doubt along my journey of life while present to beauty and miracles.
- Hummingbird also reminds me that as busy as I might be, I must embrace independence and stay fully present at the moment.
- A small bird that flies great distances, Hummingbird tells me to endure the long and sometimes arduous journey as great nectar will appear at my destination. She tells me to be sure to find joy and wonderment along the way.
The vibrational energy and presence of my equine shaman teacher, Moon, creates these magical moments. You may read previously about the airplane carving out a white heart in the sky directly above my Round Pen as I was working with and filming with Moon. The painted heart in the sky was intended to show appreciation for all healthcare people helping those with COVID. It appeared right above us at the exact time of our filming. These moments are important as they demonstrate the interconnectedness of all of life. They affirm to me that the path I have chosen is the right path. My job is never to allow the thoughts of fear, doubt, and worry to enter my consciousness. I must stay on task of being the humble servant to my horses and the collective consciousness of horses and do my part to bring light and consciousness into a chaotic world.
What and how are you doing at this time? Are you leaning into what your true values are? Are you boldly venturing down your path to higher consciousness while being of service to the earth and her creatures? I hope so. I intend to inspire you to find what is right in your life and follow your inner guidance. I also hope it inspires you to take your next action toward your calling. Now IS the time, regardless of outer circumstances.

Horse Spirits Speak to be translated into Polish!
In March, I published my third book: Horse Spirits Speak: On Love, Presence, and Harmony in a Chaotic World. I have just completed an agreement with a publishing company in Poland. Horse Spirits Speak will be translated into Polish!
Horse Spirits Speak has a life of its own. I am learning to get out of the way and give it wings. It has been so much fun!
Horse Spirits Speak stalled in coming to press (from my perspective) for about five months. I kept hearing in my mind that there was a significant “timing.” Now, I understand why. The messages I channeled from the connective consciousness of HORSE are very supportive and imperative during this time of world-wide upheaval and unknowns. Life Lessons through the Heart of Horses
Shortly after completing Horse Spirits Speak, my publisher asked me to write another book. My newest book, Life Lessons through the Heart of Horses is now on my editor’s desk. The new book is filled with even more stories about the EFLC sessions, relationships between horses and humans, and stories of my mustang, Corazon. It was a powerful and cathartic process of reviewing the last seven years of my life. I shed many tears in many forms in the five months of writing the book. I can’t wait to share it with you. Kathy, I always love reading your newsletters and receiving nuggets of goodness and insight. This one though…it’s on an entirely new level, reflective no doubt of the transformations you (we all) are going thru during these intense days of opportunity.
The thought of Carbon being squeezed, compressed to induce its transmutation into diamond formation is present in my mind at this moment. We would not / could not be here on earth without carbon, our human form is indeed 50% Carbon. So we are intrinsically transmutating as we travel thru these days and times. I’m holding tight to the perfection of the “what is” of each day, each new “challenge”. I’m holding tight to standing in the place of recognizing and offering my gratitude for being here right now. I’m standing close to my horses, knowing that they are holding me, us; that when in their presence, I feel my greatest peace and understanding of my place in the continuum of what we call life on earth. Thank you for holding space for the horses mysterious gifts in the magical way that you do. Love that you uncovered the Hummingbirds visitation and message. Keep going my fiend… the world needs you / us!
