Moon, my master healer Shaman horse, and I danced the other day. It was not an ordinary dance by any means. It was the last day of a yearlong program. Eight individuals that I have grown very fond of had just facilitated their own highly successful one-day programs here at the ranch as part of their graduation process.
For their final day we do explore some fun things . . . such as playing with horses. Before we set them off to play with Dublin, one of our newer teachers in the herd, I offered to demonstrate Horse Dancing.
Everyone sat outside the round pen, watching Moon and me. I have to be transparent and say that it always feels very vulnerable to me when I demonstrate horse dancing. Right before we began, in my mind, I asked Moon if he was willing to dance with me, he walked away. I thought, “Oh shit.” Then thought, “well, I might as well see where we go– it will be perfect no matter what happens.”
What unfolded and transpired once the music started, and for the next four minutes, was completely body, mind and spirit blowing for me. Moon and I did not do any fancy footwork, I did not try to be clever or look beautiful. Instead I found my entire presence and heart only with my magnificent friend, Moon, all else fell away. He must have felt this as he then returned the heart energy to me. Then, together we went some place, a place beyond the mundane.
We flowed gently, we moved with ease, we became still and I found myself on my knees looking into his deep almond-shaped wisdom-filled eyes, his head hanging low in front of me. Time stopped. When I rose I circled his body and stood next to his hip. I began to stroke his long back, every so softly, deep expansive emotion whelming up from inside of me. I could not stop the gentle flow of tears that rolled down my checks. Shoulders rounded, my body gone soft, I gained some ground with a few deep breaths becoming suddenly aware of all of my soon to be graduates watching. Moon then turned and circled me and faced all of the students who were just outside the round pen.
With all eyes on him, time stood still and Moon held sacred space. His eyes and head never moving, he was looking at the entire group. There were no dry eyes to be found. There were no words to be shared. Moon, the master of ceremony, gave his blessings and gratitude to all of the students to bring the work forward and into the world.
Love is not a strong enough word to describe my feelings for Moon. Not one of us had words for that moment in time . . . and that was the perfection of it all.
Words do not convey Honor and Reverence; it is a feeling that
flows forth form one’s soul.
I share this personal story with you because my heart wants you to also have the opportunity to experience something similar. Of course, I will be selfish and say that I want you to have the experience here, at my ranch, with my lovely herd.
So, I invite you, if you feel the tug of your heartstrings, if you know you are meant to be with horse, to come along for an experience.
So, I invite you, if you feel the tug of your heartstrings, if you know you are meant to be with horse, to come along for an exceptional experience of personal and/or professional growth.
I invite you to wait no longer because each day passes quickly and before you know it the time will be gone. We have only today to truly live. More than anything else the horses continue to show me this. And when I get into the present moment with them– what I need next on my path is revealed to me.
If you are ready to do something special for YOU, connecting with the wisdom of Horse will forever change how you experience the world.
