This morning is was merely one degree Fahrenheit outside. When I stepped out of my cozy brick house the skin on my face tightened and my lungs gulped as the blast of frosty arctic air struck me. The silence of the morning hung a bit solemnly in the air just above the white field of snow. As I walked in my insulated carhart overalls, hat and gloves, a big barn owl swooped out of the grandfather blue spruce and crossed just three feet above my head. Madame Owl did not fly far away. She perched just 20 feet off the ground and watched Inkie and me as we continued to walk to the paddocks.
I spoke with her as I passed by her perch and apologized for my abrupt entrance into her peaceful space. As I took in her majestic beauty, her small horns on top of her head, I shared with her my thoughts of love and appreciation for her being. She sat and received me. I walked quietly and gently, the soft snow giving way under my feet. She stayed perched, watching.
My horses stood still, conserving their energy from the extreme cold of the night. Nostril hair frozen, breath like steam, they all perked up when they saw me. Corazon of course began to paw and prance around, snorting and letting me know he was past due for his breakfast. Full of opinion he threw his head with a twist and rose up onto his back feet, front legs reaching out into the air, as if that would motivate me to move faster. I had even come out 30 minutes early this morning.
Madame Owl stayed perched, watching. Inkie had long left my side and was off flushing bunnies out of their favorite nesting spots. Making her rounds the huntress wasted no time. Moon and the rest of the herd quietly went to their feeding spots and waited with patience. I reflected on the energy of all of the animals, the watcher, the hunter, the warrior and the waiters. Each creature expressing unique energies that lead them to their own experiences and results.
Which of those archetypes are you?
And how does it serve you in your life?
As we move into 2016 it might be time for you to engage new archetype energy.
The watcher might take excessive amounts of time to research and observe before taking action, missing an excellent opportunity because she became too attached to knowledge verses experience, or she uses her keen observation with her strong gut feelings and lands herself in the perfect spot at the perfect time.
The hunter may dive too soon, without full awareness and endanger herself, not seeing the obstacles to prepare for along her journey, or she may act confidently and boldly, capturing and obtaining her goals with splendor and balanced power.
The warrior may react quickly and strongly, demanding beyond what is needed, only to have lost her vital life force energy that would be needed in the future, or she might exert her energy and claim her cause, stand her ground and receive what she knows she is divinely entitled to.
The waiter might stand in that passive place receiving less than others and being the martyr, watching others as they act and engage, while she stays safe and secure, only to one day realize she did not really live at all or she finds her inner strength and steps into the place she knows will serve her, thus all of those around her, and receives the bounty that is rightfully hers.
We all have these energy potentials inside us. At different times in our life we might engage them for different reasons. As we step forward into 2016 we once again begin to look at what we might like to create in our life, what we will manifest for 2016, how we will refine our life path and focus.
You may have been in my community for years now, watching, waiting, hunting and occasionally engaging your warrior, all of these energies sometimes holding you back or taking you off your life path, and other times serving you at a high level.
I would very much like to support you on your journey with Horse and this is the time of year I can do so. The quiet winter days give me time to connect with those who are tracking with my work and want to take their next step, but may be unclear on how to do so.
