Spring: the time for Growth and Harmony

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off

Equine Facilitated LearningThe fragrance of blossoming trees brings an extra sweetness to the warm spring days here at the ranch. Soft winds caress the winter coats off the horses’ bodies and out into the pastures where birds collect the fibers to build their nests. Coyotes continue to yip during the full moon evenings and at dawn I wake to the meadowlarks.  The bright yellow daffodils have come and passed and the fields once again are vibrant with the fresh growth of grass. When I drive the herd into their paddock the familiar scent of fresh cut grass lingers behind them. Tummies full, they are happy to come in.

Great peace has come to me and to the herd. After an expansive year of travel and in opening our glorious facility in Longmont everything has settled.  Each herd member is strong and solid and as a group they have formed a tight, cohesive herd. It brings me such joy to see them living in harmony.

The train’s whistle sent a jolt through my slumbering body. A pack of coyotes fired up and let loose their screams and yips, multiplying in numbers by their mere sounds. Everything came thundering into my consciousness and cracked the seal around my deep, dark sleep. Images of a dark colored horse breaking through a fence jarred me into a panic. Where am I? What is happening? Where are my horses? Read More→

I often hear clients say, “I am not a creative person,” or some other variation of that sentence with a similar meaning. This has become a source of amusement for me. When I hear these statements the detective in me emerges and I become curious to find the creative side within that person. Every single one of us is born with creative potential. It doesn’t mean we are all artists. It means we see, feel, hear, and experience the world in our own way. We create our life every moment. When we are free of self-judgment and limiting beliefs we have the capacity to share those interpretations through creative expression allowing the true authentic self to emerge. Read More→
