Spring: the time for Growth and Harmony

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off

Equine Facilitated LearningThe fragrance of blossoming trees brings an extra sweetness to the warm spring days here at the ranch. Soft winds caress the winter coats off the horses’ bodies and out into the pastures where birds collect the fibers to build their nests. Coyotes continue to yip during the full moon evenings and at dawn I wake to the meadowlarks.  The bright yellow daffodils have come and passed and the fields once again are vibrant with the fresh growth of grass. When I drive the herd into their paddock the familiar scent of fresh cut grass lingers behind them. Tummies full, they are happy to come in.

Great peace has come to me and to the herd. After an expansive year of travel and in opening our glorious facility in Longmont everything has settled.  Each herd member is strong and solid and as a group they have formed a tight, cohesive herd. It brings me such joy to see them living in harmony.

Love and Celebrate Yourself

Kathy riding at 12Love and Celebrate Yourself – (A Personal Note from Kathy)
When I was in second grade I wanted to write a book. I remember taking a stack of paper and folding it in half. I decorated the cover with a great title and hand drawn images. The inside pages I wrote my message. I remember holding it up with such excitement and pride.

Now, as an adult I have written a book (three books, actually). In addition my latest book Hope . . .from the Heart of Horses is now available in Dutch!

During the process of achieving my childhood desire, I have lost my youthful glee and joy of the creative process. I have not been looking at my books with pride and happiness. Instead, I have been caught up in all of the many details of marketing the books, building a business and caring for my animals.

This all changed last week. Read More→

Kathy Pike - Make Each Day BrighterWe humans routinely step out of the present moment and skip to the past or future with our thinking, thoughts and agendas. We routinely form opinions, points of view, judge others as right or wrong, decide what is best for others, and think we have the answers. The flow of possibility stops when we define events or categorize people, places and things. Pure consciousness does not participate in the above behaviors.

A wonderful practice to increase consciousness is living in the question (verses the answer). What does this mean? Read More→

Are You Following Your Passion?

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off

kathy-pike-ink-puppyLast month I facilitated the first Passion, Purpose and Your Path with Horses program.  Over the course of four days, each participant gained insights about her path with horses.  One woman decided that creating a center to explore the connection between horse and human is her purpose, another feels passionate about helping riders with fear, and one is drawn to the Apprenticeship program.  One woman who has struggled with cancer almost all of her life decided, after experiencing the round pen sessions with horses, that for the first time in her life she felt she truly wanted to live.  Read More→
