Spring: the time for Growth and Harmony
Posted by: | Comments
The fragrance of blossoming trees brings an extra sweetness to the warm spring days here at the ranch. Soft winds caress the winter coats off the horses’ bodies and out into the pastures where birds collect the fibers to build their nests. Coyotes continue to yip during the full moon evenings and at dawn I wake to the meadowlarks. The bright yellow daffodils have come and passed and the fields once again are vibrant with the fresh growth of grass. When I drive the herd into their paddock the familiar scent of fresh cut grass lingers behind them. Tummies full, they are happy to come in.
Great peace has come to me and to the herd. After an expansive year of travel and in opening our glorious facility in Longmont everything has settled. Each herd member is strong and solid and as a group they have formed a tight, cohesive herd. It brings me such joy to see them living in harmony.

Woody Speaks About Spirit and Power

It was the sixth and last day of the Level Two Apprenticeship week. During the previous five days I had watched as each woman unraveled conclusions and preconceived notions of power so that she could step into a heart-based leadership that felt authentic and real. I repeatedly found myself saying to each apprentice, “You know. What is your truth?” Throughout the week the concept of “I know” flowed through the sessions and conversations. Sharon, my co-facilitator, and I coached each apprentice to trust their intuition, inner knowing and to follow their gut and guidance as they practiced coaching active round pen sessions. The last day, each session with horse and human flowed with ease and harmony. Each apprentice had gained greater clarity, congruence and inner strength.
We had started the closing ceremony at the last hour of the week. The ritual invites the spirit of horse to interact with each Read More→
Interspecies Comfort

Sunday I took this photo on my way home from driving the horses in the mountains. I glanced to my right just in time to see it and had to turn around to get the photo. The two stood together while I snapped away with my camera. The donkey slowly lower his head to eat his food, keeping the cat balanced and snug on his back. He even took a few steps around the paddock! My heart was so touched by this interspecies friendship. (The cat is curled up on the back of an elder mini donkey.) How sweet!
