Interspecies Comfort
Sunday I took this photo on my way home from driving the horses in the mountains. I glanced to my right just in time to see it and had to turn around to get the photo. The two stood together while I snapped away with my camera. The donkey slowly lower his head to eat his food, keeping the cat balanced and snug on his back. He even took a few steps around the paddock! My heart was so touched by this interspecies friendship. (The cat is curled up on the back of an elder mini donkey.) How sweet!

Website Update
We recently updated our website. I am so pleased! Check it out: www.coachingwithhorses.com and let us know what you think.

Horses at the Ranch
The winter has provided me time to focus on my horses. Sylvie and I are taking dressage lessons. She is a powerful young spirit and is eager to learn and understand. Her body is filling out nicely for her four years of age. When our hearts sync together the potential of our partnership moves through me with great potency. Tim, my partner, has started training her for driving. She has taken to it with great ease. She is stunning with her black collar and harness and all of the silver sparkles and jingles.

Corazon is getting more time under saddle in the indoor arena and is coming along nicely. He is so small and narrow compared to Sylvie, I feel like a giant on him. His next step will be to go out into the field and the trails around the ranch. I am waiting for a bit more snow—it will slow him down if needed and also provide a nice landing if needed. He continues to inspire me with this fortitude and inner strength. It will be four years this spring that we have been together. If you have read the chapter in Hope . . .from the Heart of Horses called the Rebel, and Whispering Hearts in the Horse as Teacher book you have a feel for some of his struggles and resistance. When he first arrived I could not even catch him. His spirit is still wild and free and always will be.

Moon and I enjoy our walks in the snow around the ranch, He is the same; deep, gentle, solid and grandfatherly soul. He gives me so much when we get out on the trails. Now, with snow underfoot, the snow crystals sparkle like gems reminding me of the richness of my life. However it is the feeling of his heat moving into my legs and seat, as he carries me with such grace, that moves me deeply into my appreciate and gratitude.

Inkie (who is pictured to the right, she is looking back at me from the driving sled) continues to bound about with energy all day and becomes a snugly little gal at night. Inkie is brilliant. When I talk with her she listens. She will start her work as a therapy dog this April. When I lost my Sheppard mix named Suki that I wrote about in Hope, I did not think that I would ever be able to get another dog. Now I sometimes think I waited much too long (although SHE was well worth the wait). If you have lost your canine friend—allow another to grace you with their love. Don’t wait for the perfect time because NOW is the perfect time.

Are You Ready?
What Might Be Possible for YOU with a Horse?

I know that many of you have been wanting and waiting knowing in your heart what you truly are drawn to . . .

• What if you stepped into your knowing and followed it?
• What might be possible for you with horses?
• What insights and growth might experience through the wisdom of a horse?

Those of you who venture to the mountains of Colorado will have the opportunity to work with my very well-seasoned herd. There are loads of options this year.  Hope to see you soon.

Warmly,
